Just kidding. I am probably going to do a double door in the basment so they can hide out down there.

Another note, can not say nothing but good things about MYCO. I was checking on the MC and the cup looks like it is leaking, called them up they had the rebuild kit for the carb, brake fluid cup, some switches I needed and the axle boots in stock. I have a new MC but he said his new was only 35.00 so I may grab one as a spare.
Way more fun picking up parts than waiting for orders to arrive.

same here- those guys have gone out of thier way to help me - once leaving parts outside because i couldnt get there before they closed.

Sorry for the poor grammar. But yes Myco is great. Do not know about Bus sheet metal , but he has plenty of Beetle Pans in his "showroom".

Nothing like saying the heck with it. Swapped the MC for a new one and bled the brakes real quick and hit the open road!
Ran the thing out of gas in my neighborhood so I figured why not see if I can make it to the QT on 155.
Actually did great going. It bucked and backfired a little in 2nd coming back so I assume the carb is still out of whack. Looking forward to the weekend for some good wrench time on it.

Front bleeder on passenger side would not budge even with heat, so will have to deal with that this weekend.

I'm so jealous that you're getting to drive yours. Still got at least a month until I can probably get mine on the road. Of course at the pace I work, it'll probably take longer than that.

Never used CLR. I use Rost Mort and Por15. Does CLR work that great? Does Home Depot carry it? Rust mort will pull some stains but not all.


On lowering.
I want to fix the cut wheel wells. Once that is done I may drop it a little. Once I get new tires and 14's back on it I will decide.

Front end after Using Rost Mort. If CLR works as good I will run it over it as well. Huge difference in the bUmper and nose now. Dash is almost all white as well now.


Definately have to rebuild the carb. I have a pretty good miss under load now so I assume the main jet is clogged. May have came when I ran it out of gas as I now have a filter with some crap in it. It was running really good. Rebuild kit is in the garage but I am going to let my son do it.

CLR will work good too, but it looks like you had pretty good results with the Rust Mort. I would think they are very similar in the contents and the end result.

Thanks for letting us stop by this morning. Enjoyed meeting you and seeing the awesome bus and porsches! Can't wait to see the work you do on the bus, definitely a great base to start with.


Oh, and I got my car running right once we got back to the mother in laws house. Something has crapped out on the 009 distributor, put in the spare I keep under the back seat, and it ran like a champ!

Eric, certainly was a pleasure to meet you and your wife. Thanks for stopping by. Glad to hear the fix was something simple.

Spent all day Saturday rebuilding the brakes. Swapped the MC, All rubber lines, two metal lines, all wheel cylinders.
I started early and realized I did not have a 46 MM, so I spent 2 hours running around and swung my Northern to pick up what I needed.

Everything went pretty smooth once I got it apart. It looked like it had new pads on it up front but at some point a wheel cylinder on the front right and rear left had failed so I assume that is part of the reason it was put down.

So now it stops great, maybe not on a dime but on a few qtrs. Next to the carb and some wheels and tires and start driving it.




I have a question for the originality folks.
There was some type of cotton cover for the package tray. I thought it was some home made part but after pulling it out it had some professional stitching. I took it out as it stunk up the entire cab so I washed it. Needless to say that turned it into swiss cheese.
Was this an aftermarket part or a VW part?

I'm guessing aftermarket. Never heard of a tray liner. Then again, I'm not an originality type guy.
