Re: My new 72 Bus
The first show I went to was Bugs at the Branch and I recognized your bug immediately.
It was an icon. It was truly one of a kind.
The bus is very cool too.

Well Saturdays are tough for me. I get out when I can but it's hard to go beyond local when you've been working most of the day. Plus my bus is my only vehicle so, many times, I have to do some sort of tweeking on the weekends to keep it driving down the road...which cuts into my pleasure cruizin. I'll get up that way again. I'll have more time after Bug Jam weekend which is taking all my spare time to prep for at the moment. I definately want to make sure the Jolly Rancher is in peak form for that run.

Yeah I know. People knew Baxter well. I will have the Bus that way before to long. I don't know what it will be but something will make it stand out

Keep with the old theme?
Re: My new 72 Bus
I thought about it. I figured I could just make it close to Filmore since mine is a Bay and not a split. I'm not real sure yet though

aircooledaddicts wrote:Thanks everybody. I am really enjoying the Bus already. It was hard to watch Baxter get driven away by somebody but I am happy with the decision. I will get some more pictures soon and of course it will be at Starbucks Thurs. night. It is so nice having all the room the Bus offers.
I haven't named it yet so if anybody has any ideas let me know.

Re: My new 72 Bus
Man...I've gotta get out more! I didn't realize that Baxter was gone. That looks to be one very SWEET Bus! Congrats on the deal. It does leave one burning question though...
Did you save enough of the Elvis material to make new panels for the Bus?
Can't wait to see the new ride in person!

Re: My new 72 Bus
Thanks.
I do have enough material to redo the Elvis panels. I need to find some more door panels to dp it with though.

Re: My new 72 Bus
What coclor do you think I should paint the cylinder tins? I was thinking red but do you think that will be to much red?
I was also thinking maybe that lime green that is in the shroud but I'm just not sure.

Re: My new 72 Bus
If you could keep it half way clean i think white would make it pop but white is..... Why not tie dye them?
How did you do the shroud?
Oh yeah I forgot to ask, why no full flow?

Re: My new 72 Bus
I didn't full flow because there is really no room with the rear engine mount.
The tye dye is actually vinyl and on the cylinder tins it would just get to hot I think. The fan shroud never gets real hot and
so it should hold up well but I think those cylinder tins get pretty hot. I thought about white also but like you said......

Re: My new 72 Bus
A few more pictures of the motor. I got the cylinders, pistons, and heads on today. Sorry the pictures are crappy but
all I had was my camera phone.
all I had was my camera phone.
Re: My new 72 Bus
Another picture of the motor progress. Again it was taken with my camera phone so the quality is crap.
Re: My new 72 Bus
I ordered my push rods today and I should be ordering the exhaust in the next couple of days.

Re: My new 72 Bus
Well the motor is finally done. I finished it today and pulled the old one out of Buster. While I was there I cleaned and painted the engine bay. I also redid some of the wiring as well. I haven"t installed the motor yet. My plan is to get it in Mon. after work. I can't wait to hear this thing come to life!
Re: My new 72 Bus
I can't wait to hear it run! I'll try to find a day next week to come by the shop to see it.
