My new 72 Bus
Well Baxter is gone but, he has been replaced with an awesome 72 Bay
It is already slammed and running a 1641dp motor with dual carbs and a mild cam.

Re: My new 72 Bus
Thanks
I hated to let Baxter go but I just couldn't afford 2 right now and a Bus better
fits us right now (a lot more room).

looks nice - love the transporters!
Yep, we just traded. I really think I came out better on the deal. The Bus is real solid and
the motor is only about 3 months old. I need to do a few little odd and end things but
otherwise it's in great shape.
Re: My new 72 Bus
yea if its solid I agree you came out well on that deal.

72 was the first year of the type 4 motor. This one has been converted to a
type 1 motor though. I need to make some tins or buy the fiberglass one to fill in the gap. Otherwise it looks like it was done right.

Yep all solid. There is a little surface rust under the rubber mat in front
of the sliding door but nothing major at all.
Re: My new 72 Bus
I will take more pictures of it soon and post them. Those are all I have taken at this point.

Re: My new 72 Bus
Love the bus, looks like you did good. Almost brought a tear to my eye knowing baxter was gone though.
We are wanting to get a bus one day also, with 3 grown kids we can't take all of them with us in the bug when we do cruses so 1 always gets left out.

Yeah - but what is the weight limit, my youngest (13) is 6ft 190lbs. And then I would have to listen to the wife complain about it the whole way there.

a cooler is a much better passenger seat companion anyway. besides, your youngest may enjoy the company up there.

Re: My new 72 Bus
Gary - I like the bus. However, it is sad to see Baxter go... I'd love to hear the story about have everything went down when you get a chance. Now you have more room for that baby your wife has been talking you into. I might stop by the shop sometime next week to say hi and check out the new family bus.

Re: My new 72 Bus
Thanks everybody. I am really enjoying the Bus already. It was hard to watch Baxter get driven away by somebody but I am happy with the decision. I will get some more pictures soon and of course it will be at Starbucks Thurs. night. It is so nice having all the room the Bus offers.
I haven't named it yet so if anybody has any ideas let me know.

Re: My new 72 Bus
Nice bus Gary. Seems like a decent trade. The more you drive it around, the less you'll miss Baxter. Busses get under your skin and eventuallly you'll just have to have one in your VW stable.

Re: My new 72 Bus
Thanks. I think I will always miss that car a little but I am happy with the trade and would do it again in a heartbeat. There is just something about a bus and I am happy to have one again.bumblebuggy wrote:Nice bus Gary. Seems like a decent trade. The more you drive it around, the less you'll miss Baxter. We have missed having you on our cruises When are you going to be able to join us again?
