I had the carb rebuilt. It still trys to turn over and nothing. Was running before storage a yr ago..

What should I do? Plugs, wires, newer dist., coil? points? lol idk..

its a 68 Duel port 1600. Motor iv been told is from a 71 bus. Idk how true or what but thats what ive been told.
(def is a 1600 DPort)

Was runnin a yr ago before stored.
Was told carb needed rebuilt, it did indeed.
Had a shop do it (bug shop)
And the jets work now and I smell gas. Ive put a gallon in of fresh gas.
replaced a line (where filter was but wanna put the filter up front)
And replaced the old plugs with new. Old plugs were black and smelled like gas.
Now..... Nothing. No trying to crank just the lights come on when the key is turned to ignition.
What should I start with.. i need the help with this bug haha.

might not be firing. check to see if you have spark. I'd go ahead, and replace the points, condensor, cap and rotor. also throw a fresh blue coil on there.

he said it won't even try to start, only the lights in dash come on when key is turned. start checking wiring, start at the switch and go back to the starter..see if you get power at the starter when the key is turned? try to jump the big terminal on the starter to the little one with a screwdriver, if it bumps over. the starter is good and the switch/wiring is bad.

theres awire under the back seat that will get a funky connection i would check it if the motor is not turning it goes out of the car on the drivers side next to the tunnel

Today went great. The lady i bought it from brought her uncle (mechanic) and looked at it. We couldn't get it to start so I looked into it more, looked at a disconnected wire that was red. plugged it in. BAM.

But one good thing is that the guy timed it for me so it runs pretty good. Ill tune it before I start DD. But now for the brakes.

Im starting with lookng at all the wheel cyl. Need a resvoir def, and might need lines. How do I check to see if the master cyl is bad?

glad to help you can se if the master cyl is pumping by geting a small clear jar an get some vac hoses an put brake fluid in the jar an then put the hoses in the jar an were your brake lines conect to the master cyl an get some one to pump the peddle while you watch the jar the fluid ought to go up an down
