New to the site from Rome,ga
Im a long time lurker of the Samba, now Im finding my way around this one. I dont belong to a club, but love my VW's and really would like to make new contacts with fellow owners. Here is my driver while the oval is resting for a bit.

No, it is supposed to be the one year vert only l264 rock grey. There are not many out there in original paint, so I dont have one to go by, but I dont think the color is quite right. Regardless, we like the way it turned out so I kept it.

Re: New to the site from Rome,ga
Sorry, my screen name is a little misleading right now. I have been using the same one for years now on the Samba, so I kept it the same here to be consistant. My oval is resting for a while. The vert is a 60. Here is my oval about 3 years ago. Since this pic she spends most of the time in the garage due to a poorly prepped paint job. She is awaiting her revival as soon as I can afford another paint job.

ok well the 1960VERT is still sweet and as for the oval you need to put it on the road and let's hangout. Our ovals are far from perfect to. But it looks kool can't wait to see the Dubs.

Re: New to the site from Rome,ga
meh.... the oval is adequate I guess... just kidding..
no, to be honest that is a sexy shot.... another nice one
Edit; I was trying to find the "poor prep work", and thought I saw some flaws.....
.....then I realized I hadn't cleaned my computer screen in a while....

Re: New to the site from Rome,ga
I would show you the poor prep work, but its too embarassing lol. Actually, it was mainly the hood. Paint started lifting all the way to the metal. Then the clear started letting go in various spots. Im not a huge fan of base clear now. Looked good for about 2 years then went down hill. Oh well, best I could do at the time. There are no VW specific mechanics or body shops around here that know the intricacies of the bug. I do most everything myself, but I have nowhere to paint a whole car.

Re: New to the site from Rome,ga
Looks like Horizon Blue on the Oval, that's what mine was originally
Don't be hatin on base coat/ clear coat, that's what everyone uses now, the clear gives a nice shine and seals the base, when properly prepped and painted
