Re: New to the site..
what year is the donor bug (if its 71-79, is it a super beetle?)? i may need some parts of it (rear clip, decklid, fenders maybe, etc.). i need some panels for a few cars.
but yeah, thats a nice looking frame you got there. it looks to be a berrien, because the way the floor is made. the front has the two bars that make a Y kinda shape, just like mine, and the way the two bars go down the middle of the floor. also the bend in the middle of the roof, is also characteristic of a berrien. as to what exact model, not too sure. the only thing thats throwing me off, is that ball joint beam. i'm not sure if berrien offered a ball joint beam or not. of course, it wouldn't be hard to modify the frame to accept a BJ beam. all you would have to do is cut the bars back a little, and weld on the clamps.
I love that 4 seater configuration. i'm thinking about cutting mine up and stretching it out. just gotta learn to weld better, and find someone who sells tubing, lol.

Re: New to the site..
the donor is a 70 standard beetle with the early fenders in the front with the hella glass. body is in good shape and so it the chassis. it had new floor pans put in in 98. there is more about it i just cant remember all the particulars with some of the different year model stuff on it..i am taking the motor trans and the front suspension and a couple of other things for the rail.....just got done ordering 500.00 worth of parts from chirco for the buggy so i will show some progress pics really soon.

Welcome aboard Silky. There are a bunch of us here on the south side as well. The Aircooled Airheads meet in McDonough @ exit 216 on the second saturday of every month. You should roll up one time (VW or not) and say hi. We'd love to meet you.

Re: New to the site..
I'm not really sure that it's a good candidate for a donor, it looks more like an easy fix, daily driver or patina ride.
Re: New to the site..
well i am sure someone will take it off my hands... i am taking the engine, trans, wheels, and a few other asorted parts..all in all the bug is in easy restorable shape compared to lots of the other ones i see around here.. i just dont have room for it.
