Who needs a room for Friday Night?
I got a room at the Days Inn in Bradenton, right off the interstate for $56. It has 2 double beds. This is a decent clean hotel. Rooms are clean, just a bit older, but still good.
We are bringing the RV instead this year.

Man I'm so excited I can't sleep at night. Last year I was sitting in traffic out on the road and I rolled the window down to hear about 200 Aircooled engines idling!! It was awesome! This year mine will be making part of that wonderful noise!

I have a TON still to do and what I have done is has to be redone..... Evil or Very Mad

I got the engine in the Speedster, but it's running hot, I mean HOT. Checked the timing, set it at 28 degrees full advance, still HOT. Double checked the valves before I installed it, but I'm going to look at them again tonite. All stock with a 009, all tin. The header is hitting the rear apron and getting it extremely hot, so I may change it out to one that doesn't hit. That may cool it down some, but I can't even grab the damn dipstick it's so hot.....and that's after a short 7-10 mile run. Speedster may not go if I can't get it to run cool. Sucks, but I do have a week to figure it out. Laughing

Looking forward to the yard being FULL of VWs Thursday evening and then rolling DEEP to B-town.

Officially one week away! I can almost hear the roar of cubic centimeters taking over I-75.

Just checked the ten day forecast and it looks like highs in the mid 80s and lows in the mid 50s. PERFECT if it holds out.

WOW what a trip that is going to be just to Dave's house and then on down Friday to Bradenton.

We will probably miss you all Thursday, as we are leaving that evening with the RV and going to Ocala. Then on to Bradenton so we can get those things in there early before the crowd. We will have an RV/VW caravan going I-75! Shocked

Valves good, nothing in fan, sand in sump (?!), weird...and a 1" blade of grass.
Haven't checked size of oil pump. Cylinder deflector tin is NOT snug under cyls. Going to change headers to get tubes off of apron. Wonder if cooler is clogged? Idont know check more tomorrow

Keep in mind that the convoy will be pulling out at 6PM sharp. This is not the meeting time...it's the departure time. Chances are one of the slow split busses will be leading the group and cruise speeds will be between 55-60mph so, if you don't get there in time, you'll most likely catch us if you're not too far behind. Please show up with a full tank, and empty bladder and a full stomach.

Well I am still coming one way or the other but Herbie is hurt Sad

Something has happened in the bottom end of the engine (I think the cam gear is coming off). I am either going to put a spare motor from work in to make the trip and rebuild mine when I get back or ride with Jason. This STINKS! Evil or Very Mad

Awww man thats not good to hear. You still have some time tho to swap motors. We can even pull the 1600 out of Dorothy if it helps. Might leak a little oil, but I think it would make the trip. Lemme know if I can do anything to help.
