Don't really want to paint the whole car right now, just a thought on the grey panels. To do all that I want right now with the interior, wheels, engine and to just get it rollin again is going to be around $2000. I could opt for stock wheels now and that would reduce it by $700 or so. Either way it has to have tires and I'd rather get the wheels and tires and go from there! I want it on the road by Spring so I can get some use out of that sunroof!

Thanks Bryce, I wanted a deep Rim on the rear. Almost did the 4.5" and the 6.5" but I like a wider tire on front. Didn't think the 185 would look right on a 4.5" rim. I'm going to run the same tires(Falken) that O'Bugga has on it. They ride well and handle well also.

What size are the 8 spokes? (5.5's or 5's)

They are 5.5". With about a 4" backspace. Tires came from Discount Tire Direct, free shipping. Would like to see what O'Bugga looks like with them on him!

Started cleaning the pan for pan halves. I found a couple things that need to be replaced but this will make up my mind on which way to go with it.

The piece that goes over the tunnel is rusted on both sides and someone cut off the support for the pan.See pic....



Replacing pan halves is not fun but requires elbow grease and sweat!!!

Hammer and cold chisel to knock the old spot welds loose.

I'm still not sure what to do about this area. This support was on the new pan half but it was cut off, why? Beats me!

I may build a piece to attach the pan to and then weld it to the support at the back. If you have old pan haves laying around I would like this piece. I'd take those and the new pan and fix it right! The other side is the same. So I'd need both sides. Other than these issues this car is solid. I'll need to replace the lower A pillar hinge on the drivers side of the car along with a patch in the wheel well.

man, Bob your moving along aswell, as for the rear pan supports, my pan halfs came with them, when i did the pans in my 74 but they looked a little flimsy to me and considering mine were fine i just used the original ones and just replaced the pan itself

Thanks guys, I replaced the pan halves in Oh Bugga and I replaced the whole pan half. I had a pro do the lower hinges on both sides. I'm trying to get this thing on the road by Winter Jam. I think I may just make it!

Bob got his tires mounted on his BRM's the other day so I swung by and took a sneak peak. I couldn't believe the paint scheme he had gone with.

But seriously, took the rear drums off today and I'd like to know what the round deal is that is attached to the drum. Looks like some sort of oil catch or something.

I want to run a wider drum on the rear, would you have a set of 4 lugs drilled out for the wide 5 pattern or would you use an adapter plate? Yeah Type 3 drums and all but that route is really not the way I want to go. Will this '64 trans accept the 4 lug drums after I machine the snout? If I go with the 4 lug drums will I have to use the round oil catcher?

It is an oil slinger. There is no hole in the backing plate like later cars....

I have a set of newer seal caps that I could use, I will be changing the backing plate as well so it has the hole. Just a thought.

Would you run the adapter or re-drill the drum? If you aren't using yours could I borrow them? Just for mock up. They are like 55 bucks per pair.

Are you keeping drums up front or are you going with discs? If you are keeping drums all around, then I would think the wider drum and extra braking power are a good idea. If you are putting discs up front, I probably wouldn't even worry about the wider drums on the rear, since most of your braking comes from the front and the discs are great.

Either way, definitely get backing plates with the hole. My plates don't have the hole, and I also DONT have the oil slinger or drums drilled for an oil slinger. I constantly have a transmission fluid in my rear drums due to this setup. The rears still have stopping power, but I'm sure it is not what it should be.

Keeping the drums up front. I may bolt a set of disk on later but for now just drums. I think running the adapter would be ok, Glenn has them on the disk brake kit for the bus. I may need the 1/2" space to clear the tire and trailing arm.
