Re: '64 Sunroof "Geek"
i think the 65 was the first year that went to the changed shift rod. So the 64 shift rod should work. Unless the 64 shift coupler is different from the 58-59 shift coupler.

Re: '64 Sunroof "Geek"
I have the '64 pan and it has a plastic bushing. It also had a different shifter coupling, it uses the square cage coupler.
Re: '64 Sunroof "Geek"
you need to use the shift rod that goes with the pan. i changed out my shift coupling to a Empi urethane coupling and the bolt holes didn't match up which made it impossible to find 1st and 3rd.
So i put everything that was stock back in, and now everything works fine.
So i would say make sure everything is the SAME.

Re: '64 Sunroof "Geek"
Zabo the '64 trans. I said that the coupler was for a '64 but I believe that it is from the '58-'59 pan.
I'm baffled.....

Re: '64 Sunroof "Geek"
I'm not running a plate under the shifter. It is hard to get it in 2nd. It shifts good just can't do it fast. Still baffled by the problem though.
Re: '64 Sunroof "Geek"
Well haven't posted much about Geek lately but I have installed Bumpers....
Also I've been working on the interior. I used most of the cash I got from the sell of O'Bugga to purchase it. I went with this stupid sport seat. What a mistake!!! I have chopped up a drivers seat bottom frame so my head doesn't stick out the freaking sunroof. The padding is so damn thick that you will sit bout 3 inches higher and forward.
Here is the seat and door panels. Headliner had to be sent back to TMI and I'm still waiting on it to come back. Use some other company TMI sux!!! I must say though the seat is comfy.
It is dark grey with Light grey tweed.

Some days are just bad days!
I've been parking in this spot a couple of days b/c the Bus is in the garage. Well my daughter backed out the drive pulled back in left again and pulled back in and then forgot Geek was there. Yeah she was very upset. Well I am too a bit but things like this happen, I feel 50% responsible because of my decision to park here. This morning, I took the day off to work on the Bus, something told me to move it but I didn't.
I pulled it into the garage and removed the fender. Took it down to the shop and sanded it, beat out all the dents, there were a few existing, got it close and I'll straighten the quarter as best as possible and then refine the fender. It looks really good considering. I'm concerned about the quarter panel is is pushed in at the top a good bit. Got my new bumper a bit also.

Re: '64 Sunroof "Geek"
Yeah Eric I thought the same thing when I walked outside and look at it.
I didn't want to mess with the wht paint but I think I'll go ahead and strip that area and fix it right. The fender is tweaked a bit but with some persuasion I'll get it back in place.
I had planned on removing this fender and fixing the dent that was in it. The filler had cracked and water was getting in there. I need to remove the hood and left rear fender they have rattle can paint jobs on them. Maybe after Reynolds but before BAP?
