Re: 1969 Square
Glenn, from the pics it looks like you got a stonking deal there, nice one!
I think I saw this car when I was back in the UK earlier this year, it is incredible! There are some subtle differences in this pic so if it isn't the same, here is some more square porn for your delectation:rpm750 wrote:

Re: 1969 Square
Got the car home today. Going to start tearing into it tomorrow. Just going to clean it up and get it driving. Not going to do any serious work until way down the road.

When was the last time you saw a VW of mine on the side of the road?
(Probably set my self up there. Where's some knockable wood?)

I would say rarely, and if so not for very long seeing how you are prepared:
(from a earlier post by Glenn)
My minimum list always includes...
Tools: Anything that I normally use for general maintenance on my VW.
Gen. Belt: Can't live without it.
Zip ties: The new duct tape.
Oil: At least one quart.
Fuses: Better/safer than pennies.
Dash (peanut) bulbs: You car won't charge without a functioning gen bulb.
Cables: One clutch and one accel.
Spark plugs: Every time I change my plugs, I rotate the old ones into my kit.
Gaskets: I keep a complete set of engine gaskets in the car.
Wire: I added this to my kit along with connectors after my recent trip to Starbucks.
Points and condenser: Not normally in my stock but I plan to add it before I roll this time.
Repair Manual: I have the shop manual and idiot book in my bus at all times.
Paper towels: Stuff can get messy.
Flash light: With extra batteries.
Re: 1969 Square
Doing some inventory today. I was able to get a good look at the car. It's super solid. The only troubled area is the battery tray which I was able to poke through with my finger. It had all kinds of boxes inside and they included some nice treasures. It appears as though somone started to collect parts to brng it back to life. Inside the car was...
All the parts to bebuild the brake system including a new master cylinder, two rear brake cylinders, shoes, pads, rebuild kits for the calipers.
Two new shocks.
Drivers side vent window. The one on the car is missing the vent latch.
New (in 2005) never mounted progressive carb with a receipt for $172.00. (for sale if anyone is interested).
New turn signal switch assembly.
Replacement front seats with no rips or tears.
New blower motor. Not sure if it is one of those kits that you boost the heat with.

Re: 1969 Square
Nice score Gleen.
These are 2 guys I'm glad to know. Bryce and Glenn. Stand up guys, Bryce finds the add, does the leg work checking out the car, sees that it's solid and could easily flip it for more money but passes it along to Glenn. This is part of what makes the GA Dubs 100's of times better than the samba, all great people who work together to save and enjoy as many dubs as possible.
