I was planing on doing that once to a bus I had, it was a lot of work, but I agree, just buy a double cab and have something worth $12K when your done...

Funny story. At my work we use inmates and a fellow that was in for a while got out and was from Gainesville. He sent me an email with pictures of a lot of Bays and other VWs and this very split was in the mix. I just thought it was too far gone. I think I would of offered like $600 and that would have gotten me escorted off his property!

With high hopes Josh and I drove down there today to grab this jewel. It has severe Gutter and roof rust along with the common rust. One roof rack is rusted out the other is likely usable.
We did negotiate it some but did did not feel the asking price was worth it since we did not want to bother with parting it out. The Drivers door and rear hatch was very nice, the front cargo door was usable and that was it. Did have a rear seat under a few hundred pounds of junk.

Was the ghia there also? Was it for sale?
