It's a shame he chose to create a bastard out of his Super. It's a pretty good price considering the cost of the paint job, digital gauges, disk brakes, new engine, etc. but the split window and w-deck lid just immediately make it uncool.

Had he not screwed it up like that, it probably would've sold a long time ago.

I know a guy that used a split roof section and dash to convert a 1963 Beetle, it looked pretty good and he drove it all over the place-

How is it you like shortned single cabs Don, but don't like a beetle you never have to back up???? At least it has character. Shortys look stupid. With that beetle you can Just hop in either end and roll out. more practical than something that neither end will stay on the ground when you stop n go. Pfff!!!!

lots of hatin. I'd roll it. It definately doesn't look like a hack job. looks nicely done, besides, you get the superior handling, and better turning radius of a super. seems like a win-win. it pretty much seems like a project with all the hard work already done, just put it together.

can of worms now opened:

I have seen this car in the person.
The clip is steel and looks to be well done, but the paint is brand new and I would be willing to bet there is some b'dough under there.
Bottom line, he has ALOT of new parts and a pretty good shell.
It will take alot of time, not so much work, but alot of time to put this together, then you'll have a tough time finding someone to pay 9K for it.
($4.5K plus another $4.5K in time and misc. stuff...)
The AC unit he has ISN'T the super beetle one, it is the generic condensor and blower. It is has a bottom mount condensor for the front, so lowering could be an issue. (It would not fit under the Jap beetle...)
Bottom line, I would pass unless it just lights your candle and your going in knowing you will probably loose some $'s when and if you sell it.

it sounds like a Mulholland Look car with a split rear window and vents grafted in. I say "Whatever floats your boat", it's not my style, but I'm not hatin' on it

"Very rare and hard to find" . That's funny, cause there was another 66 bus listed yesterday at half the price. Just cause you don't see them everyday doesn't make it rare or hard to find. Getting them at a fair price these days on the other hand is becoming rare!
