Cleaning plastic taillights Empty Cleaning plastic taillights

I am working on a new project and need a little advice. P.O. got paint (?) over spray on taillights and plastic headlight covers. What would be good to clean and polish these items? I am thinking a good headlight kit such as 3-m or mothers. Any ideas? Thanks, slim jim Embarassed
