Re: 1961 Gulf Blue Ragtop
Had to do that in my vert. Hate it when people do that. Sort of a hard area to work in.

Yeah I hate when they are hacked up....at least my other two beetles don't need this repair.

I saw your car a Yu buggin . I came by a few times I wanted to ask you about your lighter in the front of the ashtray. You car looked great by the way.

Thanks! Sorry I missed you....I tried to stay in the shade but didn't sit much.... What are you wanting to know about the cigarette lighter?

So it just a lighter in the front of the ashtray. Can you still open it? I thought their may be some advantage to it like putting the stock ashtray back in. Just never seen that before.

Re: 1961 Gulf Blue Ragtop
You can still open it but wire length can be a issue if you don't leave enough slack... And there is no need for me to open it. I don't think I had the lighter part in at the show but with it in it looks like a stock ashtray with the ivory knob.

I may steal that idea. I just welded up all the extra holes, and unsure if I want to drill one for the lighter. But I need to be able charge my stuff on trips

I got the idea from Eric! Here is a couple pics that I just took with and without the lighter/knob.
