So after the auction in Augusta we decided to head out to The Mill in Villa Rica. Always missed it or it rained. So we headed out and immediately this baby blue sweptline Dodge caught my eye. I'm a sucker for steel wheels, dog dish caps, 2wd shortbeds. The more I looked at it I said to my self it is so ugly it is cool. The older Dodges have never caught my eye but this one did. Yeah, it has some small rust spots but the paint is not thin just weathered. I figure a buff job could take care of that. Some cleaning on the wheels, throw on a set of old school driving lights up front and paint the roof white and I may be set. I was thinking a set of 20in conservative wheels to give it a old/new look. To my surprise when he fired it up it has the deep rumble of flowmasters but the meat and potatoes is a big block 383 with a cam. It has the famous 727 torqueflite transmission. Power brakes but they did not come with power steering but the steering is really light in it for manual. I'm stoked. It is way more comfortable than the 68 F100 that I let those Germans talk me out of in Daytona last year and has a little more kick too. I don't have huge plans for it other than what I listed above. It runs and drives so good that I may hold on to this one for a while. Another thing, these series trucks are not easy to find in a shortbed fleetside. Most were stepsides or longbeds. This truck was originally a 225 slant six automatic truck. The owner before the one I got it from swapped it out. I thank him. It also has a dual trumpet horn set up that has a tube that goes into a can that you put oil into. It is marchal but I have not had time to figure it out. I'll more than likely pull it and opt for the normal horn.
This was at The Mill. Check out how high that hood opens.

The factory 850cfm carb with kit. It has a 650 Holley double pumper on it now. The 850 needs a rebuild

Thanks guys. I've been spending a couple hours each night cleaning. A wash, once over with a clay bar and now the buffing. I was torn on buffing it out but figured if I didn't like the shine I wouldn't wax it again. The paint is old so it will turn again eventually. Looking forward to some cruise in's but we have to jump back on her bus soon cause she is anxious to take it camping.

Added the driving lights up front and had the roof painted white. Just waiting on the new dash pad to tidy up the inside a little. I'm going to get a pair of 8in wheels and see what that does to help with the stance.

My friend Steve sold his Dad's '70 LWB 318 3spd to a friend of ours over in England. He completely redid the entire truck in 3 months and painted it like the "Dude" factory version. He gets many looks at the car shows over there.

BTW, Anyone out there looking for a new non VW Cheap Project, like a 1979 Little Red Express Truck? I have access to one in the Buford area.

The Dude package was cool. Don Knott's was the face behind that thing. I wonder what that would look like on a swb truck like mine. I'd love to have a little red express. The only thing I can't do is the stacks. I love everything else about it and I'm not a stepside person but that truck is just cool, minus the stacks.

What condition is it in? What is the asking price?

It was my friends daily driver until the engine went. Its been sitting for at least 10 - 12 years. The wood needs to be redone on the bed. Yes it has stacks with a 360 V-8 and 727 torqueflite. I believe he has many parts for it. The Body is still OK, never looked under it to see the floors. I can call him to get a better idea of its current condition, what comes with it and what he wants for it.

I just spoke with my friend Steve, the engine in the truck is cracked, but he has another complete '79 360 with the same casting number that he bought for it. The body is pretty straight and has some surface rust from sitting for 17 years, no rust holes that he can see. The truck does have the factory bucket seats w/the center console, the Tuff wheel, AC, PS, PB, rebuilt transmission. He had a cabinet maker make all new bed side wood, but no wood for the floor. Wood kits are available for the floor.

He is asking $1600, but I can say this, HIS WIFE WANTS IT GONE NOW. So make an offer and I will get you in contact with him. The truck is off Hwy 20 and Suwanne Dam Rd area.
