Bus Straight Axle Question Empty Bus Straight Axle Question

If you are using offset springplates will 67 beetle axles (long/short) work? Most of what I read wants 68 axles which are long/long. Is the importance of the longer spline so you can push the wheels off the springplates?

I THINK that the '68 long axles are used for brake drum selection and back spacing issues. But I'm in no way sure about this.

Well after checking my axles to see if they were 67 or 68 I think they are 68s. Measured from end to end they 28 3/8 which is only a 1/16 off of what 68 axles are listed at. Wahoo the bus may be on the road soon......
