Bug-a-Paluza 16 - April 12-13, 2014 - Chattanooga, TN

This will be our first time. I see that there is electricity at the campground. Do folks crowd around that generally?

I know it's a big show but to the extent I can I'd prefer to get to as quiet a section of the field as possible.

Any tips on how early I need to get there? Also, how hard is it to keep a space open next to you? We have friends joining us on Saturday. Can I keep space next to me clear?

last year was the first year for the non RV folks in the new camping area, and I don't really remember how many power poles there were.  We were kind of in a circle last year grouped together and that power source got very crowded and I'm surprised it didn't flip the breaker.  We have a few other friends coming in as well, and were going to try and get a little further out this year also, but really not sure how many other power hook-ups there will be available or where they are.  By saturday, I think it'll be getting pretty crowded, so if you are close to power, you may be fighting people away to keep a space clear.

Nah, I want to be AWAY from the power because it seems that would attract more noise. I plan to get there Friday.

Well there is tons of room to spread out. Just bring a really long extension cord if you want power and want to be away!   

That's good to hear. My only interest in electricity is my wife's hair dryer. I've got the shower thing figured out. I may just buy a generator.

I'm not as anti social as I sound. But we don't jump into the middle of crowds either. Just trying to get a lay of the land as best I can having never been there.

Triangular lot at the bottom left is the RV/camping area. The giant building is an expo center or something and the parking lots around it are for whatever they have going on in there at the time. The VW show and vendor grounds are the paved lots above the clover leaf baseball fields.

So where is the "spread out" area? The green field next to the gray RV lot and in front of the big building?

Well I guess "spread out" is a relative term, lol. Definitely less people on the grassy area, though I'm not sure how far into the grass they'll let you go. Seemed like a pretty nice spot last year up towards the top point of the triangle, around where the road makes a loop.

Was there by chance access to that building to use the restroom? That could be a hair dryer place alternative. (Good grief, I might have to leave the ladies at home) 

We always get a room for $32 a night at the super something near the main gate just for the 3 s'

The big building was open last year during the hours they were holding whatever event they had going on. We snuck in a few times for the bathroom. But I think it is locked up if when not is use.

Also we will be in cartersville at the mcdonalds on Main Street at 830-900am friday if anyone wants to jump in the caravan.

There will be a Garden Show going on this weekend in the Arena, so that should be open, but I don't know if they will be charging admission. There are tentative plans to build a bathhouse near the RV lot. As for a quiet spot to camp, I know that is not so much dependent on where YOU set up, but more so where THEY set up. Last year there was someone who loved Metallica and a couple that decided that 4 am was the time to solve their problems. It just depends on your neighbors.

In an attempt to contain the noise away from campers, there will be a group camp fire near the entrance to the RV lot.

Yeah, we should start a quiet camp area, away from the loud campers!

We have a decent size group rolling out Fri morning about 11:00 if anybody wants to join us or meet us on the road.

Yeah man, y'all are definitely welcome to jump in by us. We have a good time, but aren't too rowdy of a bunch.   Me and Kelly try to have our knock down dragouts finished before 8pm. Heavy metal is fine, I'll be sure to bring my air guitar.

I guess im getting too old lol me and callahan got a hotel room. I can't lay on the ground after I drive such a lowered car so far haha ill be lucky if I can walk when I get there. We are leaving around 10 or 10:30 tomorrow. See everyone there!

Hey Muff, we're going to try and join the Cartersville convoy if we make it in time. Depends on Atlanta traffic. I think the schools around here are on Spring Break so maybe the traffic will be light.

We will be there at 815-830 to eat and make sure everything looks good and we will leave at 9-915 headed north. Just a heads up we are a 50-55mph group.

We are here tonight. Not big of a crowd so far, but having a good time. Hope to see more folks tomorrow.

I'll be heading up with some friends tomorrow (well technically today, XD) morning around 10ish. I'll be in my RV, pulling my 72. I'll be sure to bring a standard tow bar incase anyone breaks down on the way who doesn't have AAA (my super has a beefy tow hitch on the rear)   

We'll be leaving in a few minutes headed that way.

Man, what a great show! Even my wife and daughter loved it. Had a great time meeting new to me GA Dubbers, sorry I didn't have time to talk with others.
