January 11th Meeting/Y U Planning Meeting
When: 1/11/14 @ 2pm
Where: Sonic McDonough
Trying to get the club back into some kind of a routine on get togethers....so back to the old reliable. Also the Y U Buggin meeting will take place during our cruise in. So bring out those dubs and lets have a good showing and lets try and get some plans made so we can make this show even better.
Possible bowling/bon fire afterward....

I'm hoping to make it out too! Got some big work plans for the bus the weekend before, so hopefully it'll be back up and going. If not, I'll drag the bug out.

Sorry to chump out, but not going to be able to make it. Still haven't gotten the transaxle sorted out in the bus, and since the weather isn't looking all that good, going to try and stay in the garage and see if I can get Bocephus back up on his feet (for longer than two miles this time).

Re: January 11th Meeting/Y U Planning Meeting
I was going to come, but I had a malfunction with my windsheild wipers this morning on the way to school. I'm going to try and get them working when I get home this evening so I can hopefully make it.

I think it might be something with the wiring, because it's done something similar to this before. But when it did this before, it would usually start working if you wiggled the switch around.
Maybe it's something like a loose ground.

Re: January 11th Meeting/Y U Planning Meeting
My Windshield wipers on the original ASBug (1972) quit one day on the way home in a down pour.
They began to get slower, and slower until they just stopped.
Turned out they had not had the shafts oiled since 1972.
I pulled the arms off and puled the little plastic covers off the shafts and put Kroil (penetrating oil) on the joint of the shafts and the housings that are nutted to the cowl. I then (carefully) used a small set of vice grips (one on each shaft), and gently worked the wiper shafts back and forth. you could feel the corrosion and such inside the housings. After about 2 minutes, they were stroking good by hand and then I turned the wiper motor on and continued to oil a little and let it sink in while it was stroking back and forth.
Let it do it's business for a few minutes, put covers back on and ran perfectly for the next 3 years until I sold it...
I hope this helps.

Thanks. I never thought about that. And now that I have thought about it, I can't recall the last time the wiper shafts were oiled. I'll make sure I do that this evening.

Bocephus yields to no one, not even his owner! Lol. I'd love to blow off some steam bowling, but I'm just really frustrated by this whole transaxle fiasco, and wanting to get it sorted before the hair I have left falls out from all my worrying.
I'll be of of town next weekend, so don't want to put off any longer.
