1976 Westfalia
It's official I got Bus!!! Not just any bus but a Westfalia camper bus I can take to the lake and go fishing in! It all started this morning when I was going to the Bugs4Christ turn a wrench event. I had been talking to John and Darrell about how I really wanted a bus to add to my Volkswagen Fleet, I really like how much room they have and all the stuff the can haul around. So I contemplated how I would get the funds to get the bus, I figured I would save the money I would make from SAMs club over Christmas break and buy it. Little I'd I know that my Mom had contacted John about 1 1/2 months ago about the bus and how she was going to get it for as a surprise Christmas gift. So back to this morning I got to Bugs4Christ and John told he he got a new Ghia, so we all walked outside and I checked out the Ghia. John told me that he had got some parts for the Bus, when I looked in the back there was a cake and my mom and sister jumped out and surprised me! Probably the best Christmas surprise/gift ever!

Re: 1976 Westfalia
Congratulations! You're going to love it, much to look forward to. Yeah, they make great fish cabins. I keep a fly rod in mine because it packs down so easily and stows out of the way.
Do a search on "Full Moon Bus Club" if you haven't heard about it already. I haven't made it to a camp out yet myself but I've heard it's great fun.
Plus, ask for one of these for Christmas or a birthday, I use mine all the time: http://www.amazon.com/Volkswagen-Station-Official-Service-Manual/dp/0837616352/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1386528956&sr=8-2&keywords=Bentley+vw

Re: 1976 Westfalia
Some body work, sand the outside and repaint the same color. The interior pans is really solid, just a little surface rust here and there. I plan on keeping everything stock except for the interior, I think I might change it up check out some different patterns. I want to mount a trailer hitch on the back too, so I can pull a little utility trailer around and maybe my boat. Im keeping the stock ride height too, it's harder to work on it if it's lowered, espicially if your on the side if the road.

Re: 1976 Westfalia
Darrell hooked me up with a fresh water container and the rare motor that comes with it!
Also we can't figure out what part this is! It looks like a cot or canopy, not sure though

Re: 1976 Westfalia
It's a child's cot for up top. Don't think it goes in a 76
Tho. I thought they went into up to 73 or so. The ones that pop up opposite than yours. But I'm not 100% on that. I have one in my 72. Enjoy the bus. It is a great tool for family fun and great memories.
