new 69 westy owner in Smyrna
Hello! Just added a 69 Campmobile to the family! It is my first air cooled VW. I have owned and worked on several old cars and trucks, but never a VW.
The interior is in good shape. I need to replace the pop-top, but I have the new one...just need to tackle the job!
I will post pictures of the work I do on it, but I really just like driving it!

Welcome to the site! Show season is winding down but there are quite a few good shows around that have great camping that you'll have to bring your bus out to next year! Post up some pics.

Re: new 69 westy owner in Smyrna
Getting the tops replaced is a pain.
I have done 3 of them, my only advice is to get a good electric staple gun.
I have a manual one and each time I do a top I am reminded how much a pain it is to do by hand.
Also, get a short stubby nice quality fine point screwdriver for all the screws along the front aluminum hold down strip.
You will think you have carpel tunnel after your done, but it will be worth it.
X2 on the pictures.

I may have to ask for some more helpful hints when I get going on the top. If the weather cooperates I may begin this weekend!ASBug wrote:Getting the tops replaced is a pain.

Re: new 69 westy owner in Smyrna
Greetings from a '69 Westy owner in Atlanta.
Let me know if I can help. I've had mine for 2 years now and glad to share all that I've done to it.
Now, where are the pics?
