Re: My 56 Oval
That sure is a big change from the yellow that it was previously painted. Can't wait to see it completed!

Re: My 56 Oval
I know, I like yellow but just not on a bug plus the way the car was built back in 74 it reflected someone else. Had to make the car reflect me.

What kind of AC system is that?
Re: My 56 Oval
It is a combo of units this is a compact unit for electric cars it has everything except the condenser and AC lines. The best condenser I found cam out of a small import I used a 88 Honda civic. The compressor is electric as well and can be mounted id referent areas of the car.
All the parts can be found on E-bay
Under dash unit is from Cold Master runs 100.00
the Compressor is from Parks Industries l.l.c. runs 160.00
the fans are from racing_gear they run 38.00
Hope this info helps, this is a cheaper and better way of putting AC in the cars there is no power lost from the motor. The thing I liked is that it did not cost 1700.00

Re: My 56 Oval
Have you used this ac setup before? Just curious how well it works as I would love to have some ac in a bug since thats what I daily drive.
Re: My 56 Oval
Not in the beetle but a friend used one in his classic mini and it worked very good. That is how I was able to find all the parts. I and other are looking forward to see how cold it get the car. It is rated at 3000 btu.

Re: My 56 Oval
Was looking at a few of the cars at BAP and they did not have this on any of them. Maybe someone might know what this little block of metal is.

Re: My 56 Oval
Is it folded the wrong way? It's not one of the tabs for the insulation is it? My all original 57 doesn't have anything there

No it not for the insulation I had all of those removed. It is a little square piece of metal.

Should be a tab that was folded up instead of down

Re: My 56 Oval
Finally going to get back to working on the car. Have my hands full having to disassemble most of the car due to a individual thinking that just because his dad owns a VW shop he nows it all.
