Needle bearing removal question
I need to replace the lower right needle bearing in the beam. I'll replace both on that side since everything will be pulled apart anyway. The Bentley says to use a special VW tool (slide hammer) to remove the bearing. I have an old body repair slide hammer. Any tips on something I can rig up on the end of my hammer to tap that bearing out from the inside? Or perhaps there's another home solution for this?

Re: Needle bearing removal question
An internal bearing puller works well some auto parts store loan them out . You can also use a big washer and cut it down oblong and attach it to a slide hammer and get them out that way works well on mica bushings also good luck

Re: Needle bearing removal question
I didn't even think about finding an auto parts shop to rent/borrow the tool from. And I'm one that usually tells OTHER people to do just that
Oreilly's shows a puller on their site. If I can't borrow something like that somewhere, I'll go the washer route and use my little slide hammer. That should do the job.
Thanks guys!
