1971 Bay The Snow Cone Bus
Picked this bus up last month from Raymond to fix up and make a snow cone bus out of. Anyway the last few days I have been getting everything ready for a shake down trip to Reynolds. Ran into a snag with the gas tank but I can bypass it if necessary. After I get the kinks out its going to get lowered and rust repaired then to paint. I have some ideas for a paint scheme but plans could always change.

The bus did great this weekend! Had a small hiccup with a pilot jet but after that it was smooth sailing! Now to get the body in shape and get some paint on this thang!

Re: 1971 Bay The Snow Cone Bus
Haven't touched this thing cosmetically yet....Picked up a 74 that may end up being the snow cone bus but for now I have been enjoying this one. I have replaced the master cylinder, calipers, brake pads, front inner and outer wheel bearings, wheel cylinders, shoes, all rubber brake hoses, and cv axles. Seems to run really strong just need to get a few more things working in the dash. I purchased some d load rated 185 14s to go on the stock wheels as I will be putting the cosmics on the 74. I am looking forward to see how it rides on correct tires. I have found some bumpers for it and we repainted them yesterday so I hope to get them installed in the next couple of days. I am looking for a front emblem for it. Not looking to spend a bunch on it....anyone have an extra?

Re: 1971 Bay The Snow Cone Bus
Been working on the bus the last two days. Just trying to make it a little more presentable.....I sandblasted the nose, vent and emblem and sanded the drivers side. Got the nose, front doors and drivers side lower panels rattle canned. Still have some rocker patching to do. I started working on the slider door too. First I installed the missing roller I picked up at Gary's. Now the door shuts good. Then my attention went to both of the bottom corners......both were bent and in poor shape. Started getting them into shape and pulled the dent out of the rocker below the slider. Then I removed the old deck lid hinges and replaced them with some new ones I picked up at Gary's. Also pulled most of the dent out of the hinge carrier so the decklid would bolt back on. I hope to get the battery tray in, engine seals in, wheels painted, matching paint below the belt line on the passenger side and rear end and bumpers installed before next weekends trip.
Only one pic of it before it got dark.....

Re: 1971 Bay The Snow Cone Bus
Thanks guys I am really happy with how it looks....I mean it is just a quick sand and spray but still not bad.....definitely better than the rust, rust stains, and primer tiger stripes
Re: 1971 Bay The Snow Cone Bus
Got the old rusted battery tray out and installed a new tray.....what a pain.....Also patched some rust in the passenger corner.
Re: 1971 Bay The Snow Cone Bus
Finished painting most of the body below the belt line, got the tag light working, installed new tail light seals, installed new engine seal, seam sealed the battery tray, got the drivers side front turn signal working, dimmer working, changed out the belt eating piece of junk crank pulley for an original one and finally installed the front and rear bumpers.

Re: 1971 Bay The Snow Cone Bus
Been working on the bus for the last week or so. I finished ratttle canning the blue and got Dad to spray the roof after I gave it the old scuff and go. I ended up changing out the sliding door for a better door I had. Replaced all five rear window seals while installing two solids and two sliders. Both sliders were tough to get in and I ended up tearing one of the seals but it went it. I picked up some blinds and cut and glued them and installed them as the headliner. Today I finally swapped the wheels back to the cosmics! I also reinstalled the hinge covers, installed the rear reflectors, scuffed the cargo floor and rear shelf and brushed on some white rustoleum. It definitely looks better in the pics but for a quick cleanup I am more than pleased!
