fuel leaking down carb and hydrolocking engine?

i have a problem with my 44weber on my 73sqrbk leaking fuel internally through the venturas i think. anyone have any suggestions?

Float needle not sealing, and/or heavy (gasoline saturated) float.

Seeing a few composite floats failing due to the ethanol in the gasoline we are using now.

Thanks for the reply. my problem is gasoline in the bowl is draining into the engine.

If its with fuel pump turned on maybe too much fuel pressure or a cracked emulsion tube or weak needle valve at float and if the carbs are really old buy a new set or send them in for repairdue to the fact its internal in the carb body

Those carbs cant handle much pressure at the needle. You may not notice that its pushing past until you turn it off. There is still pressure on the line and the needle lets it right on by. Turn the pressure down.
