New Member (since November)
What's up guys/(gals?)? My name is Paull Bell and I was introduced to the VW community by chance. My wife Bobbie and I had been interested in "looking" for a campers to visit state parks in. We are devout camper/hikers. We camp/hike at least 2 weekends a month from late March to November. Anyway, a long story short, our search led us to Craigslist. Our first inquiry led us to finding Kale Carters 70 early Bay Westy. So, that's what we bought. And that's how we met Kale. And that's how I became a member.
I have met a cpl of other members at the first VW Campin event we went to (Fire on the Mountain '08). I look forward to meeting the rest of you. We (my wife and I and a cpl more friends) are going to WinterJam, so hopefully I'll have met some more of you good people by then. If not, see ya in the convoy. We have talked Kale into leaving on Wednesday-the 18th so let's get to it.
PS- I'm new to VW's but I was a jet mech in the Marine Corps for 9 years so I like to turn some wrenches. I can read tech pubs but I'm more of a hands on guy that learns the first time in and out of it. I'm looking for anyone that likes the same cause I sure could use some help learning more about my bus.
A list of things I would like to get done to my buddy "Leo" b4 going to WinterJam are: (In no particular order--is there such a thing with these?)
-- Fuel tank pulled out - cleaned - sprayed
-- Body work - Right rear battery tray and corner below the tail light cut out and rewelded (already bought the sheet metal)
-- Front & Rear axles dropped
-- Brakes fixed (loses braking power(pressure))
-- Possibly a decent sanding and painting
-- Finish installing new door panels, new seat covers and pads (& finishin payin for them--thanks Kale)
-- Any other thing I can think of.
Would appreciate anyone's help in my "little" endeavors. Hope to meet more of you guys soon.
