School me on dual Kadrons. H40/44's

OK,
I got a set of carbs and I am wondering if they will work on a 1600.
They are the Kadron Solex 40/44's
any one here have any experience with them?
I am going to pull them apart and see what venturis are in them as well as the idle and running jets.
They look very simular to the other solexes that I have seen, am I going to be seeing a simular insides as to say a 30/31 or a 34Pict3?

40s ran great on my buggy. 44s might be a little too big for a 1600.

I'll pull the venturis out and measure them to see what is in there.
Are the OEM ones stamped with the bore?

Not sure. My 40s were jetted out of the box for my 1776. Bought them new.

The venturis in mine say 40-28 so I think they are 28's.
Small so I'll have to see how they run, they are on DP intakes.

I think that means they are progressive. They are 40mm on top and choke down to 28mm at the bottom. At these that it what I have been told about most two barrels.

cool. Working a deal on a '70 bus with an extra running engine.
Looks like they will not fit on the Ghia though with out cutting down the height of the filters though

I've used 40 kadrons on stock 1600 to my 2165...My stroker motor I cut the venturi's to 46mm and jetted them up . great carbs and very versatile if set right.

I still have them and plan On putting them in the beetle with it's ~1776 engine.
I have to pull the engine out of Irma and install heat for this winter, will be dioing the upgrade then.
