VW DRAG NITE 2012 ORANGEBURG SC

VW drag night 2012 will be held the second weekend of July starting on Friday the 13th at Freshfields at Kiawah Island SC. The cruise in from la Quinta Riverview, the host hotel, to Freshfields will begin at 4 pm. The drive to Kiawah is about 20 miles through Johns Island. Planejane will start around 6 pm for the free concert and dance a thon. The show will end at 9 pm. Saturday the gates will open at 11 am for the all day and night drag race, car show, and hot dog party at the Orangeburg Dragstrip in Neeses SC. It is about an hour away from charleston. Went to the race on Saturday last year. It was outstanding with many more cars than Silver Dollar this year. Track is excellent concrete 1/8 mile. Dyno Don Chamberlain (VW good guy)from California will be announcing at the race. I'm planning to drive the Bug over for the race day on the 14th and maybe stay at the track that nite. The run to Charleston for the cruise-in and band show is a little far for me. Here's a link to a youtube of the 2010 race

Sounds like a fun weekend! We're going to be in Charleston the weekend before, so unfortunately won't be able to make it back up that way for the show.
