Used 15" Tires
Hey guys...finding stock 155 or 165 15" used tires in our budget doesn't look like it is going to happen. 185/65-15 looks to be the next best size. Unfortunately, not a whole lot of those out there either. Seems like 195/60-15 should be doable for budget and availability. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Vehicle is a stock height Ghia.

165/80/15's are what people are selling now. Should be readily available.

Re: Used 15" Tires
Used 15 inch tires are hard to find in general. I was simply stating the correct size (within reason) to look for. 195 60's arent even close to stock size, unless you dont care about that, or care that they are much shorter, resulting in higher RPM's on the highway. I have those on the back of my vert, and I dont like them. Used tires are alway a crap shoot anyway. No surplus of any specific size. Found that out recently. Not many modern cars left using 15's. Use this and you will see what I mean:

Re: Used 15" Tires
Thanks...195/60 look to be about 5% higher rpms, 185/65 look to be about 4%. Is that about what you have experienced versus stock size?
Anyone out there running 195/60 and stock suspension up front? Any rubbing?

I think 195/65-15's are real close in size- but might be a bit wide for 4" rims

Re: Used 15" Tires
I had 195/50's on my stock 5" wheels and they looked like a ballon.Grifspop wrote:laith wrote:Thanks...195/60 look to be about 5% higher rpms, 185/65 look to be about 4%. Is that about what you have experienced versus stock size?

on a 4" they would look and ride horrible. On the 5" I could feel the roll in a curve.
They came on some 5.5 Empi 8's I had and they looked OK on them, but were still bulbous.
I have 2 that are good if you want to drive up and get them, they are free.

Re: Used 15" Tires
Cool..thanks for all the replies. Sounds like they will work but be less than ideal. Fine enough for my needs.
KC...thanks for the offer, but I think the gas up to you and back would eat up teh cost of the tires. Besides I need to spending all the time I can on the car, not driving to get tires.

165/80/15 is taller than a 195/65/15 by quite a bit.

only half an inch by using the tire formula....
Re: Used 15" Tires
I guess depending on what you are working with 1/2" could be a lot to some. It is to me.

The calculator is pretty good, but in real world, some of those differences are far more apparent. Maybe according to manufacturer. My 195 60's beside my old 165's, the difference is huge.

Re: Used 15" Tires
I ended up getting 185/60-15's. Because that was what was available in budget. Looks to be about 7% smaller than a 165/80-15. Which should be close enough for me.
