A Rare Badge off a late 50's Beetle
Found this on a late 50's beetle in the woods behind my dads house. This dealer is still in buisness in The Netherlands/Germany I looked it up and website is all in German too. Sent a email with photo of the badge to them. Post more info if it comes.

That's pretty cool Kale. Wish my parents had woods like that behind their house!

Re: A Rare Badge off a late 50's Beetle
it was very earthy. Coming apart at the seems ,literally. I forgot to take a photo. I have been back there twice and went back for the badge this time. Only a few things usable like door handles and vent wings. It was totaled when it was left there. The beam is L shaped on drivers side and the drivers door and post suffered a huge blow too. But like I said its earthy and was looted many moons ago.earlyvwfanatic wrote:Okay...i'll ask the question...what did the beetle look like???

its probally a little to brittle for pre prep of chroming process. Just gonna let it be, a polisher would destroy it before it ever made it to plating.earlyvwfanatic wrote:Grifspop wrote:I'd rechrome it and roll it

Grow some trees and plant a beetle in the middle and you will have a forest with a VW in it,LOL.fluxcap wrote:That's pretty cool Kale. Wish my parents had woods like that behind there house!

Tried finding info on them on the samba (trying to find out how long they had been in business), and got absolutely 0 results in the forum search. No badges in the classifieds either. Finally found a gallery picture. Here's what the shiny version looks like. A couple Hoogenboom keychains here as well.

Any of these Badges would be on a VW that was bought in Germany at there dealership which means they were only on cars that shiped here by somebody that lived in Rotterdam and had it shipped here. Most likely a military service mans car.

So what was the 50's beetle? Split, oval, 58/59? Sucks it rotted away, probably good for cool pictures though!

59/60,it was cut up baja style. Nothing there to identify exact year. No numbers on the tunnel either. I will take pics next time I go back there.
