Re: New 68 Bug in Fayette GA
only rust is a dime sized hole under the batt. Will be fixed soon. Interior is all original and no tears, even has the factory spare tire. rebuilding due to lack of #3 rod bearing...the seem to run smoother with the bearing still in place...Car is a Sept '67 build and really great condition. Already been offered more than I payed, but I'm gonna keep her awhile and play.

Re: New 68 Bug in Fayette GA
Thanks guys...I am planning to lower it...just gonna research the correct method first...new to these things. After building 17 Trans Am and their corresponding drivetrains, the bugs appear to be a breeze to work on. Can't wait to put my case back together and see how she runs next week. Any suggestions on the lowering option. Drop spindles? What about the rear?

Narrowed adjustable beam, drop spindles, and reindex the rear spring plates 1 or 2 notches. Dropping the rear just takes tools. The front is a little more involved but there are plenty of "bolt on" options.

X2 what Glenn said, and when you change to dropped spindles, that's a good time to upgrade to front disc brakes

Re: New 68 Bug in Fayette GA
Only going with bolt on stuff, do not want to cut my beam or have any neg camber at the rear...just looks bad to me. Will go with spindles. Not too worries about the breaks, as long as they stop. I've got my go-fast hotrod for performance, just want this to be slow and low.

Here's some pics I found of my old red 84 T/A. Bought it new when they first came out. It was a 5 speed H.O. car.
(its not all scratched up, that's just the old photos)
Only things I still have from it is the tag and the original window sticker.......

Nice stuff...This is #18 for me, all t-top, manuals... Have done 9 of the 77-78 Bandit clones...Wouldn't mind having another if I ran across the right deal..Nothing like the sound and feel of a big block...

Re: New 68 Bug in Fayette GA
I graduated high school in '89, had a bunch of friends with TA's and IROC's, those were the cars to have. A few years back we actually drove the GTA 10 hours to my 20yr reunion. Stopped by Party City on the way and bought the mullet wig. Pulled into the party with the wig, t-tops out and rocking Whitesnake. That alone was worth the costs of the car. Great conversation piece. The 80's were so much more fun than now...and had the best tunes...I still blame Pearl Jam and Nirvana for killing my big hair rock....bastards!
