My Georgia 1967 Tag
Finally finished my Vintage Tag Tonight. Total labor: about 12 man hours, $20.00 materials, A LOT OF PATIENCE!!!!!!
It is not perfect but it is a lot better than when I purchased it. It looks glossy but it is the flash of the camera. I used Matte clear coat.
THANKS DON HALL FOR HIS WORDS OF ADVICE DURING MY PROJECT.

Re: My Georgia 1967 Tag
I got some more advice on how to redo them last week. First you paint the letter color with a lacquer like the red on your tag. Then you paint the background color in enamel like the white. Then you use a polish on the letters to take the white paint off. Works real good and it is very easy to do.
Re: My Georgia 1967 Tag
I stripped of all the old paint with a paint thinner.
Painted the tag with a flat white Rustoleum paint
Real carefully I painted each letter with a real small brush, looking at a picture of the old tag
For the letters I used some paint for ceramic sculptures
I gave the letter like 4 coats and I went bak with the white to get rid of excess or imperfections.
Then painted it with the Matte Clear Coat
I did 2 letters per night. I tried to use masking tape but it ended up taking the paint of after removal.

Re: My Georgia 1967 Tag
I found a guy in NC that charges $100 per tag.
So I decided to do mine. It feels good after doing something like this.

Re: My Georgia 1967 Tag
i'm trying to figure out what the AT stands for, i just picked up a 59 that has a AP in the same spot, on top of each other, i read some where that the first number was for county or region, but im puzzled on the AP, maybe its just fore more variations.

Re: My Georgia 1967 Tag
From what I gather the beginning number 1 on his plate is "Fulton" county and the letters are weight and type codes. AT, The A standing for vehicles between 4001 and 6000 pounds and the T for truck. In your case it would be A standing for vehicles between 4001 and 6000 pounds and P for passenger vehicle.59 Euro Rag wrote:i'm trying to figure out what the AT stands for, i just picked up a 59 that has a AP in the same spot, on top of each other, i read some where that the first number was for county or region, but im puzzled on the AP, maybe its just fore more variations.

Re: My Georgia 1967 Tag
sorry for hijacking the thread, but thats very interesting! I talked to a buddy today and he said he would trade me another 59 tag for mine its reads 13-#### so it doesnt have any letters im assuming this tag would be for a normal wieght class car? or below 4000lbs? how do you know what county the first number represents, i found a set of codes for later tags but i would like to know what county my new tag is from.
