Type 4 Fuel Injection issue Empty Type 4 Fuel Injection issue

So a couple of times this week Pippi has not wanted to start. However if I spray just a shot of ether in she cranks right up and runs fine. Anybody with experience on FI have any suggestions?

The L-Jetronic had an air flow meter. There is a manual here on each: http://www.type4.org/technology/problems_html
and some trouble shooting tips. At least it used to. Looks like it only has the L-Jet manuals now.

based on my symptoms it appears to be the cold start valve or the thermo switch.

Cold start valve should be pretty easy to test. Of course, its a lot easier to troubleshoot when its not random.lol.

since she starts just fine with ether and that's the one injector I didn't replace, it makes sense to me that's the problem.

I would agree. I doubt the thermo time switch would be random....a relay, maybe.
