You positive its the steering box? Squeak usually means its dry.

i mean right after the guy got out and i drove away it wasn't bad but that was two weeks ago and its gotten worse. ill have to jack it up and move it around and listen.

did u check the fluid, or if it is leaking? how big of a man are we talkin? i'm 280, and drive the crap out of my bug, with no issues, lol. and i can't see how any kind of weight would harm the steering box tho. I've had 3 other big guys with me, to the point the suspension was bottomed out, and still haven't had any issues. and are u sure its the box? could be balljoints, or tierods, or maybe some bushings, or the top strut bearings (mine have squeaked like hell since i've had the car, lol).


if the box is leaking, i would just clean it out really good, and refill it with grease. superbeetle steering boxes are like $500 new. either that, or go to the junkyard, and find a good used one.

well prob 350 but with the seat all the way back his stomach was wedged against the wheel so i will have to see.

just went and got up under it and sprayed the hell out of the steering box and joint with wd-40. didn't instally fix it but well see with driving around today
