2001 jetta wagon vr6 starting issue

Hey,
We have an issue with our jetta. its at random but sometimes when you turn the key to start it doesnt start it just turns over like its getting no gas. but some times if you give gas while starting it will start. now I done some self testing and sometimes when you turn the key to the #1 position all the lights turn on like normal but i dont hear the fuel spray and if i dont hear that it doesnt start. im confused and i dont like having this issue with my mother driving it every day. at least with the bug i can see everything going on with the jetta im left there scratching my head.

fuel pump?

thats what i was thinking but what about the injectors not spraying

maybe the injectors are clogged

and if the fuel pump isnt pumping the injectors cant spray feul if there isnt any to spray

The fuel pump is what you should hear . You may have a problem with the fuel pump relay . Clogged injectors should not keep it from starting just make it run poor . The relay should be #409 in the fuse panel . Do you have any codes ?

A temp sensor code

on the old a3's a coolant temp sensor would case a no start at times

So is that maybe it

just another thing it really only seams to happen on the key fob i have any-other ideas

and our valet key wont start the car cause it starts then shuts off and says on the lcd immobilization activated
