SoCal Auto Empty SoCal Auto

Post by Attorney Isaiah Loophole Mon Jan 31, 2011 10:37 pm

Got my bumpers and exhaust from socalauto today. Man what a joke. Took them two weeks to actually ship the order and only week for ups to send it cross country. Ordered the show chrome bumpers which are still p.o.s.'s (I knew they would be but they are going on a driver so they will get beat up) but they are smoother than the just plain cheap bumpers. Opened the boxes to find there was only two bumpers.....I ordered three two show chrome and one cheap one as I needed it to complete the set with the other cheap one I have. On the invoice they took the 2nd front bumper off and credited my account but I had instructions that to get the money back I had to call back with my credit card info..... Rolling Eyes

Anyways I was already pissed that they never sent me anything or called me to say that they didn't have the front bumper and weren't sending it. Glad I didn't need. So I went ahead and pulled the other two bumpers out of the plastic. They were each wrapped in different color wrappers of the same manufacturer so my suspicion was that they sent me one show chrome and one cheapo. I was right. The show chrome is nice and smooth and has a nice reflection the other one is blurry and you can see scratch marks in the metal that were chromed over. Comparing the two is night and day. Not that it will matter as much in a month or two as both will be rusted.....hahaha but I did pay for the show chrome.

After putting one call in earlier today I was told by Mike that Felix was at lunch and would call me back when he returned. Well a few hours later, what a lunch that must have been, Felix answered when I called. I was upset by the time I talked to him but never did I curse or get loud. I explained or tried to explain the bumpers and he was just not hearing it. He would hardly let me talk and when I brought up a valid point about the shipping difference between shipping three bumpers which i paid for and shipping two bumpers which i got, he got all defensive. I even went back and re-entered my order without the extra bumper and shipping was calculated at 44 not the 62 I paid. He said the website calculated it wrong and that if it would have calculated it at $44 they would have contacted with the real shipping price of $65 that was actually paid to ship the order I recieved.....blah blah blah.....I told he needed to fix the website. Then he wanted me to email him pictures of the differences which I did like 8 of them, but I am not sure you can tell anything between the two in pictures. You have to be in person to really tell. I even had Ashley look at the two bumpers and even she pointed out which one was much nicer. Anyways he said he would get back to me after him and the boss went over the pictures......I won't hold my breath......

I wouldn't have been so mad if they would have just let me know something on my order when I placed it. Maybe something like we have insufficient supplies at our warehouse and will not be able to complete your full order......What a joke! It's not like I care about the $20 difference but you wouldn't hose me face to face like that and I making dang sure your not going to do it behind a computer screen. If they don't fix this then at least they will remember me as the hardest scam they ever pulled. Internet has created a whole new game for thieves. I should have stayed with my trusty WW and Cip1....... I will never order from them again that's for sure.

Buyers beware.....

I ordered some stuff from WW late Friday, like after 5:00 our time, and checked e-mail, they sent a confirmation, then emailed the invoice and Fed Ex tracking number because it shipped the same day! I guess I'm lucky that California is 3 hours behind us, it gave them time to pull the order and ship it too. I've had real good luck with Wolfsburg West, they're a little pricy, but I'm not about to put sh!tty parts on my Oval. I hate buying the same parts twice, first the cheap part, then the expensive part to replace it, my motto is "Buy the best and you only cry once".

Wow, that sucks man. Only thing I've ever ordered from them was a m/c reservoir. I'd post this up on the Samba too. Doubt it will help, but it will apparently fit right in with their other feedback. Lots of stories like yours.

Well Bryce, if they don't play along I would go ahead and dispute the charge on your credit card. That puts a ton of work in their corner. It is the best way to play hardball with them.

Thanks for the heads up about their shady service though.

Yeah I usually buy the better quality stuff but on bumpers for the cars I am putting them on I wasn't worried about nice. I drive my cars everyday so everything on the car takes a beating. I wouldn't be too happy if my nice 400 dollar euro or 900 dollar american bumpers were damaged. I will save buying those for my nicest car(s). If these bumpers last a year or two I will be happy.

I should have just bought the cheapest bumpers they had anyway.....I don't know exactly why I felt like I had to move up to the next one....

That's why it's nice to hit the vendors at the VW shows, you can see the quality and avoid shipping costs. You're right, it doesn't make sense to spend $600 on bumpers for a $2000 car, especially since they take a beating in everyday driving.

Amen to that Very Happy

If you buy the right thing and it only takes one purchase, it saves you double on shipping. The only downfall is you have to wait for the show, which can be hard between Dec. and March.

These are the two bumpers I received. The closer is the rear bumper. The other is the front bumper. Which is nicer?
