Re: battery size?
well this prolly won't help you since i have a bug, but i went with a group 49 battery (i believe its a mercedes benz battery), 850CCA/ 950CA, and i couldn't be happier with it. i had to mount it behind the backseat, so i'm not sure how much room you have to mount a battery. i once left my headlights on for over 8 hours, and it started up no problem. i still yanked it out to charge it, but i prolly didn't need to. also i got it from wal-mart. most auto parts stores charge a lot for this battery (over $150), but walmart sells any group sized 3 year battery for $75 i believe, and any 2 year battery for $65. be sure to keep that reciept tho. they won't warrenty shit with out that damn reciept.

Re: battery size?
thanks bugman.
i went to Costco and found the closest one in size they had instock.
it is a Group 58 battery (their "Size 8"), 760 CCA & 610 CA. for $53.99
they had one that was sold out with about 810? 850?CCA for $59.99
hopefully i made a good purchase & Scooter will tolerate the boost.

Re: battery size?
Moot point, the ghia has ALOT more space for the battery...
Get the biggest one you can to fit in there.

Re: battery size?
its not going to hurt anything having a larger battery. the battery simply has more amps (which is capacity). its not going to short anything, unless your cables aren't up to par (but in that case, it would cause problems with a small stock battery anyway, lol). I've never had a ghia, but i believe the battery is located next to the motor, correct? if thats the case, then yeah, i'd imagine you could fit a 49 no problem, and not have to relocate it like i had to do with my bug, lol

A larger battery won't warp your valves will it .....................
