Yea - those are the ones that I sold to Jeremy before you bought the car from him. Those did handle very well. I am wanting something with just a little more tread hitting the pavement if I can make it work.

I got my 175/55/15 fronts from tirerack.com. They are a little bit more low profile than I was expecting, but over all I'm happy with them. I like them though because they do have a pretty wide contact patch. They actually opened up a pretty big fender gap that I didn't have with the 175/65/15 I was running. Now I need to drop my adjusters a little bit!

Beam is narrowed 30mm each side so it's equal to about 2.3 inches total. It has adjusters but they are currently all they way up.
CB dropped/disc spindle setup.
Stock 4J smoothies so I think they are only 4 inches.

Can't wait to see Blurple out on the road. I remember talking to you at BAP a couple of years ago and you were bummed to be there without a bug.

Blurple has a 4" narrowed & adjustable beam with the CB dropped spindle/ disk setup. It also has the 4 to 5 lug adapter which adds an additional inch. The wheels apear to be 5.5".

If you are going to Winter Jam, you will see Blurple - if not before. We will be driving Blurple with the Aircooled Addicts convoy.

I can't imagine what kind of engine you think the car has. She has a 1776 with a Freeway Flyer tranny. She is built for smooth cruising.

i drive my 2074cc everyday, and even took it to tennesse for BAP twice (went back and fourth two days in a row), and am not having any major issues. fucker won't stop leaking oil, but i can live with that, lol Laughing . big motors not being streetable is just a myth. its just a few more mm's on the crank and pistons.Wink

Wow - 10k. That is about what I put on my Acura that I drive to work daily. BTW - I have a classic insurance policy that limits me to 2500 miles annually. I suppose I could adjust the policy if I find I need to drive more than that. However, I am not driving the car daily to work etc.

I've put over 8K miles on my 2074cc in the last 6 months. i drive that car EVERYWHERE, lol. i get about 30-31 MPG when i drive it really easy. and i've gotten as low as 18MPG when i abuse it, lol. i'm guessing it has to do with the single weber 44.

I put new front tires on Blurple today. I ended up going with the 175/55R15s - Continentals. I hovered over they guys while they were doing the work to make sure they did not mess anything up. When they checked the torque, they found that a couple of wheel nuts were spinning in place.I know they did not do it so it must have been done by what ever shop put the new rear tires on the car when Jason Brooks owned it. When I got the car home, I found two broken wheel studs. One was broken off inside the nut and the other broken piece was missing. I had to run over to Pro-Flow really quick to get some replacement wheel studs. I also adjusted the front beam up about 1/2 and inch to get better clearance on the new tires. The replacement alarm siren was also installed today.

Did some work on Blurple this weekend.

- Installed an Auto Meter tach.
- Prewired for oil temperature and oil pressure gauges while running the wire for the tach. Ordered the VDO Cockpit Royal gauges from CB to put in the pod under the steering column.
- Finished installing the seat belts.
- Fixed the problem with the door handles not locking. There is a problem with 1964 to 1966 paddle style aftermarket door handles. The paddle is too deep which causes pressure on the opening mechanism at rest. When there is pressure on the opening mechanism, the locking mechanism will not move. I had to file off 2mm from the paddle which fixed the problem.
- I move the choke wire from the front of the fan shroud to behind the fan shroud to hide it.

Did a little tinkering on Blurple today. Since the front hood was not locking on Blurple, I decided to replace all of the worn components instead of making the existing components work. I ordered all of the parts from Wolfsburg West. When I received the order, I noticed that they sent me the 4 hole catch mechanism while the image on the website shows the 3 hole model. I removed the old catch mechanism to see if I can make the new one work. Good thing the front apron was stamped to take either version. Mounted all the parts with stainless hardware. Pictures of the work below - plus I threw in a few extra I took of the car today.

Here is how the engine now looks with the choke wires hidden behind the fan shroud and w/ a chrome coil cover. There is really not much you can do to improve on this engine.
