Bra questions
I'm considering buying or making a bra for my '76 Westy. I have never seen one up close and I'm concerned about how they fasten to the bus. Would someone who has one please post some pictures and give me some feedback? Have you liked it? Did it cut down on wind noise? Etc. etc.
Re: Bra questions
They are nice but the snaps in the back are always difficult !

Re: Bra questions
You could probably make one, since you're talented with a sewing machine. I've got a bra for my bug, it hooks on so there are no snaps left when you take it off. The hooks are malleable aluminum with heavy felt sewn around them, and sewn to the bra. If you're going to be at the coffee shop Thursday night, I'll bring it with me and you can look at the construction.

Re: Bra questions
Make sure it's tight, really tight. If it is loose it will feather the paint as it flaps in the wind!

Cool. I'll be there. I was planning on sewing one.Grifspop wrote: If you're going to be at the coffee shop Thursday night, I'll bring it with me and you can look at the construction.
Sorry I wasn't too quick on the bra joke. I suspected that might be the case, but wasn't sure.
What about noise reduction? Any appreciable change? Unless somebody tells me that it'll make it worse I'm probably gonna go ahead and do it. Just curious.
Re: Bra questions
I was considering it only as a temporary solution until I can afford to have some body work and paint work done. The current paint isn't in very good shape. Thanks for the heads up.rpm750 wrote:Make sure it's tight, really tight. If it is loose it will feather the paint as it flaps in the wind!
Re: Bra questions

Re: Bra questions
does any one know where to get the checkerboard hood covers like in the 60's - 70's?peregrine67 wrote:I was considering it only as a temporary solution until I can afford to have some body work and paint work done. If I cannot get one I would like to see about having one made. I have a superbeatle one and could use the same principle for a regular beetle...
Any way I want one for the ASBug.

If you decide to let the super beetle one go, I would be interested......

Re: Bra questions
Was grandma's the checkered one or was it a super one?
The super one I have is all black and is made by wolf.
It isn't a checkered one.
Any way I think the checkered ones are cool.
Just need to see if I can find some outside grade checkered material.

Re: Bra questions
Post a picture of one. How big are the checks? The ones I have seen look like they are a patchwork of black and white vinyl.ASBug wrote:Any way I think the checkered ones are cool.

Shorter type:
Cool / weird at same time:
Peregrine- what you want:
Any way as you can see the vynl appear to be approx 1-2" sq. and printed...
I have seen a bay with one that was painted on with like 4" sq patterns that looked cool.

Re: Bra questions
the red car is a vinyl sticker...the black car is using a material similar to the banners you see at gas stations or the race track. you could check some sign shops to see what they have. also check out some awning shops they should have a wide selection of vinyls.
