Tanner in Augusta
Been out of the loop for awhile but I'm ready to join back in here. This is what I've been working on for a few years. I have a '67 Westy 'Ursula', my daily driver, and a '78 HiTop 'Wolfy' who's currently under wraps 'til I can get back to it.
Re: Tanner in Augusta
If it's the bus in the avatar...looking good.

Re: Tanner in Augusta
Guess I forgot how to post pictures since my last time on here. (Been awhile ) But there's 131 build pictures of the fire truck on my Facebook page if your interested. (Jon Tanner) And if you'll explain how to post pictures on here from say, Facebook, I'll add some newer ones.
All that's left to have the fire truck up in rollin' is to wire up the engine, bleed the brakes and a tweak here and there...

Re: Tanner in Augusta
Took several tries but I got it! Here's a shot of the front. I plan on installing dropped spindle to get the front down some more and to put different size tires for a better fit. That's a 1940s NOS military siren on the bumper. It had a red light on the front of it but it stuck out too far. So I removed it and cut down a VW hubcap to cover the hole. I have a large American Eagle decal for the front but haven't put it on yet. There are 19 LEDs around the bottom, 7 ambers on each side and 5 reds across the back. The ladders fold down to make tables by laying plexiglas on top. And that's a slide-out propane grill below the ladder. I plan on selling lots and lots of hotdogs, hamburgers and brats off this thing!
Re: Tanner in Augusta
Here's the rear minus the engine and step bumper. There's an air compressor in the driver side tray for the air horns and blowing up balloons or whatever. A hose reel will go between the storage boxes and a chrome hose roller thingie goes behind that. (This is an older picture.) The ladder hinges like a gate to get in and out of the jump seat and also ladder folds down to make a table for this side. There are 3 1/2 sheets of aluminum and 73 feet of aluminum welds on this thing!
Re: Tanner in Augusta
Here's a shot of the top. One air horn has the big rig sound and the other has the fire truck sound. The panel material is red and yellow and orange flames. I wanted something whimsical rather than black or red or maroon vinyl. PLUS there's 16 feet of color changing LEDs around the headliner (yes' I know), and it's SICK the way it affects the flames! It's like doing acid. I'll probably give some kid convulsions. I found black Dodge Neon seats for the front and there ae 2 bench seats in the back with storage underneath for the power inverter etc. The yellow vinyl covers whats left of the opening in the roof (this WAS a Westy) and you can unsnap it and roll it up so you can stand up and throw things at people in parades. Oh, and the door handles are fire axes.
Re: Tanner in Augusta
One more. This is what I started with. I gave away the top, the interior and sold the engine. It wasn't worth trying to restore. I think it will be happier now
