lowering a bay Empty lowering a bay

does anyone no a cheap way to lower a 79 bay. can i cut and turn the beam or will it mess with the caster on the bus.and use the "C" in the rears.

If you want cheap to lower the front then you cannot worry about messing with original specs..... As long as you dont go crazy on the cut and turn i think you should be fine with that and some boomerang plates

the bays use two inserts in each beam(top and bottom) to hold the torsion springs. you would have to cut each beam in two places. i have lowered two bays by drilling out the dimples in the tubes, this allows the torsion keys to rotate inside the tube. once it drops you can reweld the keys if you choose to select the height or just let it drop all the way. the rear is definately easier with the plates as Bryce said. it all depends on how low you want to go if you need c-notches or not. plates will keep caster/camber within tolerable specs.

MY OLD BAY I TOOK THE BEAM OUT AND CUT AND TURNED THE CENTER ABOUT 3\4 TO AN INCH AN WENT ONE SPLINE IN THE REAR HAD SOME 1\2 INCH THICK PLATE PUNCHED 6 HOLES IN IT AN JUST RAISED THE REAR HOUSING I HAD ZERO IN THAT JUST TIME YOU CAN SEE IT AT WWW.BUGGLIFE.COM I CAN ALSO BUILD YOU A NARROWED BEAM AN GOOD DROP PLATES IF YOU LIKE OR I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS BUT YOU CAN PULL LEAF PACKS OUT BU YOU ARE FLIRTING WITH DISASTER

THANKS FOR THE HELP. IS THE BLUE BAY THE ONE YOU LOWER THAT WAY.IN THE OLD DAYES I DID PULL LEAFS TO LOWER MY BUG. IT WAS GOOD FOR A LITTLE WILD, THEN I WOULD HIT SOMETHING AND TAKE THE SWAYBAR OFF Twisted Evil

you can use bug avis adjusters butid get some from wagens west or bus boys they are made for that front end
