Re: Kips Party/Bulli Brigade/Bug Jam November 7, 8, 9
I am not sure. I think everyone is trying to go after work or so. Glenn and Ben would probably have a better idea than me.
Re: Kips Party/Bulli Brigade/Bug Jam November 7, 8, 9
Last I remember Billie and Alex said they were going to pull out somewhere in the six o'clock hour. That would most likely put them here on the south side around an hour later if the traffic is kind to them. So I imagine that It'll be kind of late before we pass by WR (9:00ish) and O'Dark30 before we get to Dave's place. So far we have 5 cars in the convoy that I know of (Me, Billie, Alex, Brice, and Ben).

Yes that timing sounds about right. It normally takes me about 1 hour to get from my place to the sonic. Yeah hopefully traffic will be on our side.

Since all yall are talking about Spending the night at Dave's, what time you plan on leaving out Friday Morning? We had planned for around 7:30am.
Re: Kips Party/Bulli Brigade/Bug Jam November 7, 8, 9
7:30s cool. Don't matter to me.

We can meet at the Interstate. At the Hotel gas station and head out. Plan for 7:30 there.
We are 2 miles from Dave's, so no biggy there.

Yay hi everyone,

On another note...I talked about this earlier to Ben and put something like this on the Bulli thread last year. Let me start by saying that I anticipate no problems with any ones cars but the fact remains that most of us are driving machines that are 40+ years old and s@#t happens. So in an effort to keep the convoy rolling I recommend that we each pair off with someone else to be a wingman. Your job as a wingman is to help the person you're hooked up with in the unlikely event of mechanical failure. The reason for this is to keep the overall group safe and have someone you know will help if you have a problem that requires an extra set of hands/feet/wrenches/wheels or whatever. What often times happens in a convoy situation is one person will break down and six people stop to help. While this is cool, it can be dangerous to the group. Your buddy is there to be your backup and let the convoy roll on (and stop at in a safer area if desired) while you sort out any issues. This adds to the comfort level of the trip and prevents everyone from being stopped by a single break down.
Now in being a good wingman, you should be prepared with a minimum set of equipment for a longer road trip like this. My minimum list always includes...
Tools: Anything that I normally use for general maintenance on my VW.
Gen. Belt: Can't live without it.
Zip ties: The new duct tape.
Oil: At least one quart.
Fuses: Better/safer than pennies.
Dash (peanut) bulbs: You car won't charge without a functioning gen bulb.
Cables: One clutch and one accel.
Spark plugs: Every time I change my plugs, I rotate the old ones into my kit.
Gaskets: I keep a complete set of engine gaskets in the car.
Wire: I added this to my kit along with connectors after my recent trip to Starbucks.
Points and condenser: Not normally in my stock but I plan to add it before I roll this time.
Repair Manual: I have the shop manual and idiot book in my bus at all times.
Paper towels: Stuff can get messy.
Flash light: With extra batteries.
I'm sure there are a few things I forgot, but that pretty much covers it.

Re: Kips Party/Bulli Brigade/Bug Jam November 7, 8, 9
Pretty sure they got some. If not, the other bigger truck gas station across the street does. In fact that would be a better place to meet.
I done forgot the name of it too, but they have a little cafe in there too, so you can grab some grubb, before hitting the road. Otherwise there is NO OTHER food on this exit.
I agree about the comfort level of the cruise down. We all were fine last year until we hit Lake City and stopped. Once getting back on the road, someone had to pull over and check something and the WHOLE CLAN did too. On the entry ramp of the interstate! We want to get on down there peacefully and in a timely manner. Although we can cruise at 70 or more with the Type IV in the back!

Re: Kips Party/Bulli Brigade/Bug Jam November 7, 8, 9
I submit thatt the convoy should roll on and the "wingman" stop to help. The convoy can stop an an exit and wait for prescribed dubbers to show up with problem resolved. If, after 30 minutes (or another agreed upon time limit), the broken dub doesn't show the convoy moves on.

Oil change and various other stuff last night, I'm as ready as I'll ever be!. My party of three intends to liaise with Alex and Melissa just off GA-400 at Holcombe Bridge Road and roll out immediately. Does this tie in with the plans of anyone else who is travelling from the Northside? Cheers.
