Late model dog house conversion? Empty Late model dog house conversion?

Post by 69panel Sat Oct 04, 2008 9:40 am

My current fan housing does not have the rear mounted oil cooler. It is internal.

I'm confused because I've seen a 36 HP fan housing on a buggy rail site that offers the external oil cooler adaptor and additional tin for the oil cooler. Will the wider fan fit in a 36 HP housing?

My questions:

Can mine be converted?
If so what parts do I need?
Or should I just go online and buy a kit with everything included?

I would hate to spend un-nessary bucks on an entire kit if some of my stuff will work.

Any help would be appreciated. Cool

I'd find a used original setup, clean it in a tub of mineral spirits, and have it professionally powdercoated. It'll cost about the same as getting a scat kit, but it will most likely cool better, because it's the real thing, not made in Taiwann or China.

Get:
doghouse fan shroud with two front oil cooler exit tins.
front tin where the exit tins blow the hot air thru.
wider fan (make sure it's not cracked around the mounting hole).

That should be all you need.

I've heard that too- go original. It's got to do with the design of the inner workings, and how the air is directed inside the shroud. The after market stuff doesn't do as well. Watcha don't see..........

That's also why it needs to be dunked in mineral spirits or cleaned internally some other way. There's tons of sticky goo in there after so many years of use. It needs to be clean for the air to flow well.

... don't forget the oil cooler and the offset bracket with the trick seals for your case, as well as a Hoover bit.
