I was going to install my system from my truck in my 73 b4 I sold it. I had the glove box cd player holder(abs plastic and sucked!!) I was going to put in quality kick panels with 6.5 components.(jl audio xr) being pushed by 1 alpine v12 200 x 2 amp. Then 1 jl 10 in a homemade sealed enclosure (tighter bass but takes more pwr to move the sub) in the luggage tray pushed by an alpine 200watt mono amp. I never installed the kick panels but I did install the sub but I know it would have sounded pretty good. I am a big jl fan and the components scream with good power. Oh yeah all my power wire and ground wire was 4 guage because I did not need much it did not cost much. Had about 500 in it but some of it was used. Just my .02 Good luck. P.s. I always use 3/4" mdf because it flexes less and you get a better more solid box. But 1/2 " will work.

vwtattooed wrote:I ran a GM140 amp alternator on my bug and i am running one on my wifes Squareback also. they work great at a third of the cost of a VW 95amp. i mounted mine to the left of the carb and gutted the ol generator, it's only purpose was to spin the fan.

any pics of that set-up? i'd love to see some pics of the hook up. i was thinking about using some air conditioning compressor mounts to help with that.

see, i plan to run the alternator on the right side, next to the stock generator, using an AC pulley, because i want to run an AC ompressor, on the left side with a serpintine kit, and the turbo either on top, or under the decklid. gonna be tight, but should all fit nicely Twisted Evil .
