Its amazing that these engines will usually start up so easily after extended periods of in-activity. The engine in my 71 was not ran for 18 years after the initial break-in, and ran fine when given gas and spark...... Cool

Yeah, same plugs and points from 1995, just put the carb off of my other car on and it fired up, and idled too!

When i got my kit car home two years ago, it hadn't been started for over 10 years, and after a battery, electric fuel pump ghetto rigged, and a lawnmower gas tank, it started right up (EVEN with the origional carb Shocked ). sputtered on acceleration, and had to let it warm up before it would idle. but then held my hand over the top of the carb while revving it, and seemed to help it alot, cause it then ran much better. seemed to suck some junk out of the carb. anyway, couldn't beleive it ran after all that time. and the best part, was that it was free, on the basis that the owner thought it would need a new engine, lol. that same motor is now in my 74 super, with a turbo, lol. still in the process of restoring it, but just needed a running motor, afterthe turbo motor blew up, lol.
