Dead Bug on Sweetwater
Well not 30 min ago Toby's engine died... Heres the scenario, I was driving listening to some music and I noticed an odd smell, not electrical or anything then started to see smoke fill the cabin so I pulled over into a gas station off of dallas hwy took a look at the engine wasn't hot or anything so I figured I should take it easy the rest of the way home. I limped to sweetwater church road and heard a ticking noise which started getting louder i pulled to the side of the road an he dies, sat for a minute and thought to myself screw it Im gonna blow the engine to get it home... well about .2 miles later the ticking got louder and I could tell I was running on a couple cylinders so I pulled into the grass about 1000 yards from sweet water and bakers bride road, when I tried to start him again it was really having a hard time turning over so thats where I gave in and that is where Toby sits until tomorrow, when I get off work to deal with it. Not even 2 miles from the house oh well what can you do but rebuild the engine to accommodate for more cc's Just worried about random flying beer bottles that are attracted to big yellow targets on the side of the road.

1776 would pull better than an 1835 <---- prior engine definitally not staying with that

Re: Dead Bug on Sweetwater
Use the heads and go with a 1776. It will live a little longer if Toby is a daily driver!
Re: Dead Bug on Sweetwater
I think I will go with that setup, I was looking into it and it will be a little cheaper than my natural reaction of go big or go home should I go for a kit, ie scat rebuild or kustom1warehouse crap, or just buy all the parts I need seperatley, and will those cylinder sleeves fit with my 1835 set up on the case and heads?
Thanks for the input

Re: Dead Bug on Sweetwater
90.5 and 92 are the same cut on the case and heads so 1776 and 1835 are the same cuts different cylinders
Re: Dead Bug on Sweetwater
who is a good transaxle rebuilder around the dallas area? I thought about pro-flow are they anygood, thats who I am going to use to do the machine work on my case but not sure of the trans rebuilds there... I am going to keep the details of the engine an trans 'top secret' until its done... but I will document the heck out of it on my build thread
