1958 Euro Beetle "Raggedy Anne"
I picked this car up a few months back with the thought of just parting the car as I need parts for my 59. I will have to double check but I am pretty sure this is a early August 57 built beetle. In other words one of the first big back window cars after ovals. I just couldn't bring myself to pulling it apart without attempting to fix it. At some point in the last 25 years the car was pulled off the road and pulled apart for a resto of some sort and a tree/tree limb fell on the roof. Then I guess it sat outside because it has some weird seam rust here and there. The tree mangled the roof passenger door, passenger a pillar and driver rear pillar around the rear window.
Yesterday with the help of some great friends we were able to cut the mangled roof off and beat the pillars into something more usable and graft a ragtop roof clip on!

Can't wait to see the pictures. Good to hear it's not going to be parted out.

I thought it was worth the effort to try. Going to be a long term project but wanted to try and fix the roof so I would know if it was parts car or not. I got more projects than Bob Vila!

Looks like you had some good help who had experience in cutting roofs off, I'd still be measuring

Yeah they were a big help! None of us had experience replacing a roof. Only one way to learn!
