1st time distributor swap
Trying to get ready for a road trip and decided to buy a new distributor and keep the old as a spare. From Bus Depot I ordered the Bosch with vacuum advance (svda?). Which I understand to be more "original". Anyway, I haven't done this before and I'm not seeing where a vacuum line would attach to the carburetor. So here's the current set up.
Here's the left side of the carburetor.
Is that where it would go? I'm guessing you have to unscrew that piece and pop out the gold plug in the middle?

I have both the Bentley and Muir books and I've searched the site first. Oh wait a sec, I forgot I'm not on Samba

If there is a vacuum port it should be near the mixture screw.

Re: 1st time distributor swap
Thanks! Is the mixture screw on the left or right side of the carb?

Re: 1st time distributor swap
Should be on the same side as the idle stop screw. It's a thumb screw in the base of the carb.
