So my drive pulley is warped and is eating up belts after about 100 miles. I bought an aluminum degree pulley but after a couple of hours trying to come up with a pulley lock or something the warped one is still on the motor. Is there a certain trick to hold the pulley while I break the nut? USing 3/4 drive with a breaker and no dice. Is this a nut an impact works better on or is there a tool that locks it down to break it loose?

Thanks
Phillip

An impact gun would work well, but I do not know if there is enough room to get it in, you my have to use a swivel. If it is warped you could try (dare I say) vice grips clamped on to the drive pulley to stop it or hold onto it. You could also apply a little heat to the pully

Good luck

Thanks, I thought as much. I had the apron and tin off with the breaker. The bentley just said remove nut, I thought well either it is that easy or I am an idiot. Will grab an impact tomorrow.

I knew it was a stupid question, I been holding off on buying an impact. Spun right off and now I have a true pulley so maybe I can cut back on 2 belts a month.

Thanks Callahan and pwmcguire.
