I'm on my 3rd one...2 from O'reiley, so I won't be going back there! Any suggestions?

is your gen. working right.i went threw sum voltage regs. bout 2 years ago and couldnt figr out y.foundout that it was my genarator was bad which was frying my voltage reg. the same will do it if you put a new gen. on ur bug with a bad voltage reg. ive dun both ways.and finally put a new gen. and volt.reg. on at the same time and never had the problem again

one wire alternator out of a 76 no more problems with gens or voltage regulators

Got mine (12V solid state one) from the dealer in Dalton, Ga. (been in buisness since '63.)
There are ALOT of VW's in this county and they still stock a few things, get a bosch one.
I believe the FLAPS sell a no name points types.
