How to test Voltage Regulator removed from the Alternator Empty How to test Voltage Regulator removed from the Alternator

Does anyone know how to test a voltage regulator that has been removed from the Alternator with a meter? I suspect it is bad due to a reverse of polarity at the battery. A freak accident and I don't want to talk about it. After the incident, I corrected the cables and the car started fine, but of course the Alternator light is on. I checked the voltage going into the battery and its a steady 12.5 volts from idle to 4000 rpm's. It used to charge at 13.2 - 13.5 volts at idle.

Or does anyone have a regulator for a Motorola AL82, its the White Box Style that sits on top of the alternator that I could try to meter out or run?
